I started Jen Wright Photography (specializing in kids/families) back in 2007 while attending photography school at the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. I would take on clients part-time there and when I traveled back home to Atlanta, GA on breaks. I graduated with a degree in Professional Photography in Summer 2009. After graduating, I moved back home to Atlanta, moved my business with me and have been based there (with the occasional trip to California) ever since.
Why photography?
Honestly, my mom is such a creative person and I grew up watching her express herself creatively in a myriad of different ways (sewing, painting, jewelry making, etc). I always had the desire to be "artsy" like her but wasn't really gifted in those ways so I sort of gave up. Then I started taking pictures of my nieces/nephews and the children I babysat, and realized it was an art form I was actually pretty good at!
Why do you use AsukaBook?
A friend introduced me to AsukaBook years ago. I was looking for a beautiful, but no frills book, to offer my clients that really showcased the images from their session. I use the 10x10 Book Bound EX – Laminate Matte option on everything -- and I LOVE it!
Any selling tips for other photographers?
I do in-person ordering and always bring my AsukaBook sample book with me. Once my client sees and touches it, it pretty much sells itself. :)
What else should people know about you?
I detest cilantro, absolutely can't stand it -- which makes my immense love of guacamole a bit of a challenge. ;-)
