Tell us about your company or studio.
I am a portrait and wedding photographer and own my own studio, Amelia J. Moore Photography, in Nashville, Tennessee. I have been a professional photographer for over ten years; full time with my business since 2011.
Why photography?
Growing up, I attended art camps, worked on the homecoming float and painted murals. In college, I landed on an art/business major. I started my career in graphic design which led me to photography. My love for photography grew out of a love for exploring creation. I love venturing about or stopping on a drive to shoot. Photography allows me to slow down and engage the world around me and really notice God’s amazing creation. It has taught me that the world is always changing...a spider web might not be there tomorrow or the sun may not hit the trees in the same way for several days. Also that irises last about a week, leaves fall and snow drifts, love changes, homes decay and trees grow and today will not look like tomorrow. Then in 2005, I became a mom and my world view changed and I now experience this profound truth in a whole new light. My work has a new purpose, to capture life moments. The fleeting moments of children and the wondrous moments of celebrating love. Preserving life moments through photography allows us to remember and connect.
Why do you use AsukaBook?
I love offering albums to my clients. I want to provide them with a high quality product that they will treasure for a lifetime. AsukaBooks are beautiful! Any selling tips for other photographers?
My “sales tip” is what I tell myself all the time: stay organized, stay focus on a simple product line and offer products that you love. You can sell what you love. I honestly love showing my AsukaBook samples.
What else should people know about you?
My husband is a film maker, so our worlds overlap a lot. In 2005, we became parents through adoption. We now have two amazing, beautiful boys who were born in Guatemala. Because of their stories, we have been inspired to “give back” through our art and businesses. We have started a non profit, Athentikos, through which we have produced two feature length documentary films and we lead Art Camps with at-risk children. AND…This year my work was featured in People Magazine! I had the honor of photographing Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler’s wedding in Nashville, TN. Yes, I bought a magazine every day is was out. It was exciting to see the photographs in print…and even more EXCITING to see the images in their AsukaBook wedding album!
